#2 Gun Violence

Why do we need to defeat Donald Trump and ensure that a Democrat occupies the White House? Let’s next consider gun violence.

A few days ago, a presidential candidate had an inadvertent “Manchurian Candidate” moment, when a bullet from an AR 15 struck his right ear. He was able to quickly rise and raise a clenched fist. The Right has already started an inuendo fueled campaign seeking to blame the attack on liberals. The truth is that most horrific gun violence results from attacks by unbalanced gun enthusiasts using assault rifles or handguns. In this instance, the twenty-year-old son of a man who owns twenty weapons, who just happens to be a registered Republican was the man behind the trigger. Although Donald Trump emerged largely intact, one man died and two other attendees were critically injured. This is a relatively small toll of carnage for an incident like this. For example, a Las Vegas attack claimed sixty victims and multiple attacks on schools have killed dozens of children and teachers.

This incident, however, had dire implications. If the bullet’s trajectory was two inches to the left, it would have passed through the right eye, into the brain with, lethal impact. The assassination of Donald Trump might conceivably have triggered a civil war in our nation.

There are currently more than twenty million similar assault rifles in circulation in the U.S. today. That is more rifles in the hands of soldiers than at the onset of the first world war, and they have a far greater rate of fire and muzzle velocity.

Democrats have consistently tried to ban or, at a minimum, license such weapons of mass destruction, only to be consistently opposed by Republicans and the right-wing judges who they have appointed.

Have a heart and vote for Democrats across the board in November.
