Reason # 76: Conspiracy and Insurrection

Reason # 76: Conspiracy and Insurrection

Why do we need to defeat Donald Trump and ensure that a Democrat occupies the White House?

Yesterday we described how Donald Trump and a large group of his advisors, lawyers and cronies in seven states, where he had lost to Joe Biden, attempted to convince the courts to intervene in the electoral process, using deceit, including allegations that millions of votes were cast illegally, including by dead people and illegal immigrants and that votes were stolen by individuals or via hacked voting machines. More than sixty court decisions and attestations from state governors and secretaries of state all proved beyond doubt that all of these allegations were complete fabrications. Despite all of this, tens of millions of gullible Trump acolytes persist in the false belief that the 2020 Presidential election was stolen.

In any case, phase two of a conspiracy went into action on December 14, 2020, when bogus slates of “false” electors convened to draw up counterfeit electoral vote certifications and attestations. They told the public that such votes were contingent upon court decisions but, behind the scenes, the false voters had a nefarious plan. Details were somewhat murky, until two days ago, when Jack Smith’s response to the Supreme Court finally came available to the public. Trump had tried very hard to stop its publication before the election on November 5 and now had failed.

The redacted text is available on the internet, except for the names of the large number of those accused as conspirators. They are listed under CC and P designations, followed by a number. It is clear that “the defendant” is Donald Trump and that “CC1” is Rudy Giuliani.

Ordinarily the public does not have access to indictments before a trial, but since the Supreme Court had decided that Donald Trump held immunity as POTUS, Jack Smith had to respond to describe how the illegal actions Trump was indicted for were committed as a private individual who sought reelection. Accordingly, we get the full details on the Trump conspiracy.

The real purpose of the fake electors and vote certifications was for deployment on January 6, 2020. The plan was that during the joint congressional session to certify the vote, an objection would be raised and the presiding president of the Senate, Mike Pence, would curtail discussion and gavel in the fake votes, thereby reelecting Donald Trump as president.

There was one main difficulty. Despite many attempts by Trump and his co-conspirators to convince Pence to agree to fix the election, he would not agree to do so. It was time to play hard ball. If Pence would not comply, he would have to be threatened and intimidated. This pressure continued on a daily basis until January 6.

Donald Trump put the final touches of the conspiracy in place. On December 19, he invited his shock troops to Washington DC.

‘Statistically impossible to have lost the 2020 Election. Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!”

On the morning of January 6, 2021, that fateful day, he incited them to insurrection. The full text is below.

Rudy Giuliani, I a warmup speech had spoken of a “trial by combat.’

Now the conspiracy was out in the open.

“And he looked at Mike Pence, and I hope Mike is going to do the right thing. I hope so. I hope so.

Because if Mike Pence does the right thing, we win the election. All he has to do, all this is, this is from the number one, or certainly one of the top, Constitutional lawyers in our country. He has the absolute right to do it. We’re supposed to protect our country, support our country, support our Constitution, and protect our constitution.”

And

“All Vice President Pence has to do is send it back to the states to recertify and we become president and you are the happiest people.

And I actually, I just spoke to Mike. I said: “Mike, that doesn’t take courage. What takes courage is to do nothing. That takes courage.” And then we’re stuck with a president who lost the election by a lot and we have to live with that for four more years. We’re just not going to let that happen.”

“And Mike Pence is going to have to come through for us, and if he doesn’t, that will be a, a sad day for our country because you’re sworn to uphold our Constitution.

Now, it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. And after this, we’re going to walk down, and I’ll be there with you, we’re going to walk down, we’re going to walk down.

Anyone you want, but I think right here, we’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them.”

And,

‘’ The best is yet to come.

So we’re going to, we’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. I love Pennsylvania Avenue. And we’re going to the Capitol, and we’re going to try and give.

The Democrats are hopeless — they never vote for anything. Not even one vote. But we’re going to try and give our Republicans, the weak ones because the strong ones don’t need any of our help. We’re going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country.

So let’s walk down Pennsylvania Avenue.”

And the rest, as they say, is history. Mike Pence began the combined session by announcing that a court decision had determined that it would be illegal to either return two separate groups of electors to their home states or to accept alternative electors as valid. The Certification proceedings began shortly after 1 PM.

Donald Trump did not walk down Pennsylvania. He didn’t drive either. He went back to the White House and watched history play out on television. And he did nothing to prevent the insurrection.

More tomorrow.

Are you going to vote for a coward who incites others to initiate a violent, criminal insurrection and do his dirty work for him while he hides in the White House?

Have a heart; use your mind, search your conscience, and vote for Democratic candidates – across the ballot – on November. 5th.
