Reason #7: Misogyny

Why do we need to defeat Donald Trump and ensure that a Democrat occupies the White House?

Let’s next consider misogyny, defined as hatred, contempt for or discrimination against women. It implies two tiers, personal and public. Let’s begin with misogyny in Donald Trump’s personal life. The focal point is the Access Hollywood tape in which Trump, speaking of Nancy O’Dell, admitted “I did try and fuck her. She was married.” He went on to describe his modus operandi. \

“And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything, Grab ‘em by the pussy. You can do anything.”

He defended himself by saying that this was just “locker room” guy talk. But numerous women have made public assertions that it was not just talk; he did do it; he had behaved in just this way toward them, sexually assaulting them without their consent and going as far as rape. A jury verdict resulted in an enormous financial penalty for his sexual assault on E. Jean Carroll and subsequent defamation of her character. Numerous other women have voiced similar public complaints.

An extreme form of misogyny is sexual assault on girls below the legal age of consent. Although there are no proven instances of such conduct, there is that chilling and repellant video clip of Trump with convicted sex-trafficker of young women, Jeffrey Epstein leering at and snidely commenting on dancing women. Unquestionably, the most important decision we make in our personal lives, love life and sex life is whether to make a commitment to marriage and marital fidelity. Donald Trump made this commitment and vow to Ivana Trump in 1977. He subsequently had three children with her before the marriage ended, when he betrayed his vows in an adulterous relationship with his second wife, Marla Maples. Their marriage lasted four years before divorce. His third wedding in 2005 was to Melania Trump.

He also betrayed her, most prominently with porn star Stormy Daniels. When she made details of their brief liaison public, he committed the very bad error of disrespecting her as “horse faced”. The notorious trial revealed Trump in open court as a casual philanderer, liar, comic lothario and inadequate lover. It also cost him a large amount of money.

To sum up, respect for women is a hallmark of masculine character. Fidelity in marriage, is a man’s crucial responsibility to wife and children. This view might be considered old-fashioned, but certainly not by the religious fundamentalists who bewilderingly idolize this serial adulterer. In the end, it all comes down to one simple question. If not even your wife, your life partner, can trust you, how can anyone else?

Have a heart; have a conscience and vote for Democratic candidates – across the ballot – in November.
