Reason # 81: Trump’s Rap Sheet.
Why do we need to defeat Donald Trump and ensure that a Democrat occupies the White House?
Although the January 6th conspiracy and its attendant violent insurrection represent Donald Trump’s worst crime, he has a long rap-sheet of prior offences and convictions.
1973: the Department of Justice accused the Trump Organization of discrimination and violating the civil rights of African Americans who sought to rent apartments owned by the Trumps. The Trump Organization were compelled by a consent decree to invite African American renters to apply and to promise not to repeat their past conduct. A slap on the wrist for Donald.

Over the succeeding decades, DJT was investigated for numerous other offenses, civil and criminal, involving “, lobbying violations, investor and consumer deception, tax abatements, workplace safety violations, union avoidance and environmental harm.“

Tenants on Central Park South accused Trump of harassment and won in court, forcing Trump to renovate without evicting them.
Trump had to cough up $750,000 in civil penalties after allegations by the FTC and Justice Department that he had failed to issue pre-merger documentation.
1983: Trump was fined $335,000 for using illegal immigrant Polish workers on the demolition of the Bonwit Teller building in NYC. Settled; payoff unknown. He has been accused of employing immigrant workers on at least two other occasions and forced labor on another.
1990: Trump, in bankruptcy hearings, “had to put up his three Atlantic City casinos as collateral to get a debt restructuring deal from his major bank lenders.”
1990: Later that same year DJT had to file for bankruptcy of the Taj Mahal casino. Bondholders took over half ownership.
1990 New Jersey’s Casino Control Commission fined the Trumps $40,000 for assorted violations.
1991: A further $30,000 fine was imposed when Fred Trump bought $3,500,000 worth of casino chips and took them out of circulation i.e. gave an illegal loan to his wastrel son Donald.
1991: In June another $200,000 fine was imposed for discriminatory practices against black and female dealers to accommodate a racist high roller.
1991: November. Fined again; this time for $450,000 for financial skullduggery involving the same hi-roller.
1992: Three other Trump properties went into Chapter 11; the Trump Plaza and Trump Castle in Atlantic City and New York’s famous Plaza Hotel. Bondholders took 49%.
1998: Trump Taj Mahal fined $447,000 for currency transaction reporting violations. By 2015, the Taj Mahal had been fined $15 million for “willful and repeated violations of the Bank Secrecy Act”.
1999: $50,000 fine for racial discrimination at the Trump Marina Hotel Casino.
1999: Trump’s Taj Mahal hit with a $237,000 fine for financial irregularities.
2000: Trump and associates fined $250,000 for lobbying violations seeking to prevent a new casino in the Catskills.
2001: Taj Mahal fined $91,000 for allowing children to play slot machines.
2002: Securities Exchange Commission cites Trump Casinos for recklessly providing false information to investors and issues a cease-and-desist order.
2004: The Donald was back in bankruptcy court and emerged with only a 29% stake in Trump Entertainment Resorts.
2005: Trump Marina fined $100,000 for allowing underage gambling
2007: Trump Marina fined $75,000 for underage gambling and alcohol.
2008: A worker on the construction of the Trump SoHo Hotel was killed and three others injured in an accident. The subcontractor subsequently went to prison for racketeering. OSHA imposed a $44,000 fine.
2009: In Chapter 11 yet again; his stake was reduced to 9.5%. By 2014, Carl Icahn had taken it all.
2012 Trump Hotel in Chicago paid a $46,000 fine for “Clean Water Act violations.”
2013 The Trump National Golf Course in Palos Verde CA had to pay $475,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for violation of state labor laws.
2015: NBC ousted Trump from his beauty pageant business. He would no longer be able to burst into dressing rooms to ogle the partly dressed teenage contestants.

2016: Trump agreed to pay a $25,000,000 settlement for “for engaging in persistent fraudulent, illegal and deceptive conduct.” A judge stated that Trump University was ” an unscrupulous business that relied on high-pressure sales tactics, employed unqualified instructors, made deceptive claims and exploited vulnerable students.”
2016: Trump and his children were accused of diverting tips from catering workers at SoHo Hotel.
And these are relatively minor compared with civil and criminal items we will discuss tomorrow.
It is crazy to think of voting for a man whose rap sheet would be the envy of most hardened criminals.
